Longhorn Weekly

Dear Vega ISD Community,

Summer is in full swing as many families are planning summer vacations.  Just because summer is here, doesn’t mean that the school is quiet by any means.  Our students are filling their summer schedules with activities to prepare them for the upcoming school year.  For example, this week the cheerleaders have left for camp to prepare for the upcoming school year.  Our high school football boys have already started their 7 on 7 games in Bushland and our boys basketball teams are participating in summer league games in River Road and won the consolation championship over the weekend in the Happy Shootout.

Our elementary and junior high students have been in the action as well.  Volleyball camp is going on this week as our high school volleyball players are helping out with the younger students during camp.  This is a great opportunity for our high school students to build relationships and mentor our younger students.

Some of our elementary students and their coaches were also practicing at the school during the evening last week for their flag football season.

Vega ISD is accepting transfer students throughout the summer for the 2024-2025 school year.  Check out our transfer landing page on the district’s website that talks about our school and how to apply for a transfer.  Please note that to be eligible to be accepted as a transfer student to Vega ISD, all students must be in good standing with their current school district, have good attendance, and have no discipline issues.  If you feel comfortable doing so, please “like” the social media posts and share them on your own social media pages.  If you need any help in doing this, please reach out to our office. We would be glad to help.

As always, if you have any questions or if we can help in any way, please reach out to your campus principal or to my office.

Thank you,

Jerry Adams
