Dear Vega ISD Community:
This past week has been very busy for the Longhorns as our students have been taking care of business. This past week we were able to recognize our A and A/B Honor Roll Students. We are now entering the final nine-week grading period for the school year.
Over this past week there were many extracurricular activities underway as well with our track athletes competing at Dimmitt and Amarillo and winning some gold medals. Our boys and mixed doubles tennis teams traveled to Spearman for a tennis tournament and our golf team competed in the Dumas golf tournament. Last week our boys golf team won first place at the Vega Golf Tournament with two of our players finishing overall first and overall third. We are super proud of our two powerlifters who traveled to the State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene. Both Cason Lamm and Cash Black placed in the top ten at the state powerlifting competition! Please check out our facebook page and webpage for pictures and more information.
We are proud of our One Act Play team who were the district alternate play and we had four our our students earn recognition for areas such as honorable mention cast, All Star Cast, and stage sound production. Our NHS students continue to complete their community service hours and our staff and students participated in the United Way Blood Drive. Another special shout out goes to our Ag Mechanics students who did a great job at the Houston Ag Mech show. We had a division grand champion, and many projects that placed along with many blue ribbons. Please check out our facebook page and webpage for pictures and more information.
Thank you to our parents, teachers, students, and community members for responding to the district’s survey regarding feedback on a possible 4-day week for the calendar. The parent, community, and teacher feedback was strongly in favor of a 4-day week. We also want to thank everyone who attended any of the three Q & A Sessions we held this past week to discuss and listen to feedback about the possible 4-day week for the calendar. We will continue to provide FAQ information on our facebook page about this. If you have any questions about a possible 4-day week calendar, please reach out to your campus principal or to my office so we can help.
Thank you,
Jerry Adams
