Dear Vega ISD Community:
It has been nice welcoming the warmer weather this week, especially as our spring sports get rolling. Our tracksters have begun early morning workouts while our golf and tennis teams have been able to practice outdoors.
Our district was able to host a set of playoff games last week and we received many compliments from our guests about how nice our facilities are and how clean the building was. We are very fortunate to have such nice facilities and are appreciative to our community for the facilities we have. It is very nice when guests from other communities make such positive comments.
Our students continue to excel in their activities. The Powerlifting team traveled to Highland Park this past weekend for competition and eight of our powerlifters placed. The girls basketball all district awards were released this past week and five of our players earned all district honors. Also all eleven of the girls varsity players earned academic all district honors. The boys golf team placed first at the Highland Park Golf Meet and seven of our golfers placed. The girls golf team was attending their golf meet at the time of this writing. More congratulations to two of our girls powerlifters and eight of our boys powerlifters who qualified for Powerlifing Regionals. The Ag Mech students did a great job at the San Antonio Ag Mech show earning blue ribbons including the division reserve champion in farm machinery and equipment, first place in ranch trailer, division champion in livestock handling equipment, first palace in livestock handling equipment, 2nd place in yard and garden equipment, first place in farm machinery and equipment, and 3rd place in shop equipment and resource recovery. Please check out our facebook pages and web page for more information and pictures.
Thank you to our parents, teachers, students, and community members for responding to the district’s survey regarding feedback on a possible 4-day week for the calendar. The initial survey for the 2025-2026 calendar had quite a bit of feedback regarding considering a 4-day week so the district’s site-based decision making committee discussed the survey results and wanted to seek out more specific feedback from parents, community, students, and staff with the subsequent survey. We will review these results and the site-based decision making committee will meet again to develop some calendar options. We will continue to keep our stakeholders updated as the process continues. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your campus or my office.
Thank you,
Jerry Adams
